My tip here is, find a place that’s already beautiful. That makes it easier. This is at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. The charcoal sketch is an important step in planning the composition. Since the scene fit my first drawing of the fawns, I didn’t have to change the size to fit the scale of the picture.
