Van Gogh Up Close @ Philadelphia Museum of Art till May 6

No photography is allowed in the exhibit. This is my souvenir coffee cup.

Van Gogh has always been both Shelby’s and my favorite artist, so I was excited to see his paintings in person. They give you headphones at the entrance to the exhibit, but you don’t need them. Van Gogh’s paintings speak for themselves. They are full of soul, passion and honesty. Some of them sparkle and pop. Some are more subdued. All of them are painted with inspiration and sensitivity. Some were new to me because they came from private collections. And some of the paintings came from Amsterdam and Switzerland. One wall has Japanese wood cut prints that Vincent and Theo collected. When you walk into the first gallery, you’re greeted by Sunflowers. And when you leave the last gallery, you say goodby to Almond Tree Blossoms. The museum is collecting haiku poems to Almond Tree Blossoms. Here’s mine.Almond Tree Blossoms  ,And sweet air on a clear day  ,Inspired an artist.
