close up photo of trim on sofa cover and new pillow

That’s grosgrain ribbon on the front arm of the sofa. The original upholstery has an edge with decorative tacks so I cut my slipcover to follow the design of the sofa.
I put a piece of cardboard tack strip under the ribbon because at first it didn’t lay flat on the edge. It was too lumpy with the layers of fabric going over the rounded decorative tacks on the upholstery. I trimmed the tack strip to fit under the ribbon inside the seams and my needle didn’t hit the strip. I think it worked out ok. When I tried the slipcover on the sofa for a fitting I thought it looks like I gave myself a present with ribbon and all!

This photo also shows the new pillow I designed. I’m calling it the “Infinite Wave Pillow”. I have a few variations in mind to try. I’ll sew more if it rains too much this spring.
